Recently on a Monday morning, I was scheduled for a Whole Foods demonstration at their Farmer’s Market. I was excited to do this event because it will be our new neighborhood for the CHOW WEST HARTFORD restaurant. Yup. That’s right. We are officially making the announcement. We will be opening our 3rd restaurant in Fall 2008. Over the next few months, I’ll make sure to post on our progress, timing and how things are going!
So for the event, I arrived at 9:00am for set up and quicky had to purchase farm fresh produce—breakfast radishes and hot yellow peppers from Rose’s Berry Farm stand and honey from Jones’ Apiaries. And a quick thank you to Whole Foods for supplying us with basil, cucumbers, lettuce, microgreens and cilantro. So I quickly purchased what I needed and returned back to my booth to prepare Fresh Market Vegetable Rice Paper Rolls with Yuzu-Lime-Soy Sauce. Luckily, I had the time to make my creamy red kuri squash soup back at the restaurant, so I brought some of that too. My booth was supposed to open at 10:00 am…and people were right on time!
The West Harford Farmer’s Market at Whole Foods was great—we definitely like to participate with Farmer’s Markets near all of our restaurants like the New Haven City Seed markets. And the West Hartford market attendees were very receptive to the nibbles—as well as very excited about opening a CHOW West Hartford in Blue Back Square. Some usual suspects showed up that are long time fans of ZINC…and all of them eagerly waiting our arrival in spring 2008 [thank you for the continued support].
We are so excited about being part of the West Hartford community. I am up in the area at least two times a week now—it’s so incredible to see all of the progress. Blue Back Square is like a small city is being built before your eyes. It is really amazing to see it all come together—and to be apart of it.
Until next time. And remember I have a Delia Viking Demo on November 12th.
