I love spring and summer. From the trees growing to the flowers blooming…and best of all…the fresh vegetables growing! I know I’ve mentioned before how I grew up in Gram’s garden. But this seeing my garden start to grow just always makes me smile.
My garden isn’t the only one starting to produce either. CitySeed just officially launched the Wooster Street Farmer’s Market a few weeks ago. And the Downtown, FairHaven and Edgewood Markets will be opening soon too. We know what that means…it’s time for the Market Menu to start up again!
The Market Menu will officially start again Wednesday June 18th. For those of you who may not remember [or didn't have a chance to try it last year], the Market Menu uses only locally grown/produced ingredients–from meat, to vegetables, to honey, to cheese and more. We like to pick a theme each week to focus the 4 course, fixed price menu on [I loved our New Orleans menu...mesclun greens, goat cheese and grilled peaches salad, blue point oyster + corn fritters, shrimp and beef kielbasa gumbo and beignets...yum!]. We’ve even found organic wines to compliment the Market Menu!
The folks at CitySeed continue to do great work and have really made such a difference in helping to bring local, organic and sustainable food to the community. And they are really starting to turn heads outside of our local community too–they just received an award from the USDA and were named one of the Top 10 Markets by USA Today last summer. So we are really proud to be part of their movement to bring farm fresh ingredients to the table and offer our guests at ZINC a chance to taste the difference.
Stay tuned for more information soon. We’ll make sure to update the Market Menu each week on our website, so make sure you check it out.
And let me know…does anyone have any requests for the theme of the inaugural week of the Market Menu?

Is it possible to request a vegetarian menu one week? Thanks!
Hi Geoff–I can definitely look into doing that. And we will always accommodate you if you want modifications to a menu item or if you want a vegetarian version of the Market Menu.
I am very sensitive to vegetarian needs [and tastes], so don’t worry!
Okay Geoff–we’ve decided to do one or two weeks of strict vegetarian offerings for the Market Menu. Keep an eye out for the weekly menu postings!
Also, we do offer a fill in of vegetarian entree when meat courses are the highlight., so just ask!

I just found out about this, and would love to see vegetarian options!
Hi Elizabeth,
We will definitely have a vegetarian week again this year. But we also make sure that we can customize each week’s Market Menu for vegetarians so that we can accommodate everyone!

I will be visiting Zinc for the first time this weekend. I was a bit dismayed by the market menu as I have not eaten beef in many years. But, I was delighted to read further that there can be substitutes for the menu. Thank you. I and my companions are looking forward to a great time made possible by people who care so much about detail.
Hi Mary,
We look forward to having you join us! And I’d love to hear your feedback after your first time with us.
